BREAKING NEWS: BERNIE SANDERS ENDORSES PROP 59!
PROPOSITION 59 ON THE NOVEMBER 2016 CALIFORNIA STATEWIDE BALLOT ASKS:
“Shall California’s elected officials use all of their constitutional authority, including, but not limited to ratifying an amendment or amendments to the United States Constitution to overturn Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and other applicable judicial precedents, to allow the full regulation or limitation of campaign contributions and spending, to ensure that all citizens, regardless of wealth, may express their views to one another, and to make clear that corporations should not have the same rights as human beings?”
Citizens United is a Supreme Court ruling that opened the floodgates of special interest spending in our elections. After Citizens United spending in federal elections nearly doubled from $5.3 billion in 2008 to $10 billion in 2012! Spending is expected to double again this election.
A YES VOTE ON PROP 59 instructs all of California's elected officials at the state and national level to act NOW to pass a 28th Amendment to the Constitution of The United States.
Seven times in our history, Americans have passed constitutional amendments to overturn misguided court rulings and the time has come to do so again.
We must act now to:
- End corrupt Super-PACS
- End corporate constitutional rights
- Stop secret money in our elections
A YES VOTE ON PROP 59 instructing Congress to pass a 28th Amendment is California's clarion call to overturn the disastrous Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. FEC. and to restore a government of the People, by the People, and for the People.
